African Male by MenEssentials is the result of a joint venture between Geneva-based International Trade Centre, African Aloe, Eastern Cape Development Corporation and the Ikhala Cooperative. The product line is made available through a global licensing agreement between Ikhala Products (Pty) Ltd. and MenEssentials Corporation, a leader in the retail of men's prestige skin care and grooming products.

The purpose of African Male by MenEssentials is to empower Xhosa aloe tappers, processors and distributors with share-ownership of a sustainable business. Its goal is to produce South Africa's first world-class line of luxury grooming products that specifically targets the unique skin conditions of African men.

African Male by MenEssentials raises Ikhala Cooperative incomes to well above the South African average for Xhosa workers. Furthermore, a portion of all sales returns directly to their communities to improve their healthcare and educational resources.
